Surviving on Shoestrings: Learn Frugally Sustainable Skills at Firefly Gathering

Firefly2013May 12, 2014 – Today it is my privilege to introduce Frank, Class Coordinator for the Firefly Gathering, one of the largest Earth Skills Events in the nation.  He and I both share a similar hope to introduce people to a more REAL (vs. virtual) life connected with the creation around us and to experience the joy of learning frugally sustainable skills for life. It is a lifestyle that not only lightens the financial burden but the intrinsic value to it is priceless.

Frank is currently establishing a staple food crop chestnut-based forest garden in Sodom-Laurel, NC, where he homesteads and experiments with permaculture farming. He graduated with honors from Shepherd College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, after spending a year on the city council of Shepherdstown, WV, where he served on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Environmental Sustainability Committee, and Affordable Housing Committee. He is a member of the Northern Nut Growers Association (NNGA) and the North American Fruit Explorers (NAFEX). His writing has been published in the  Permaculture Activist magazine and  Appalachian Voices.
